Krittibas Ojha Ramayan PDF Download

The Ramayana is one of the most ancient and revered epics of India. It narrates the story of Rama, the prince of Ayodhya, who was exiled for 14 years along with his wife Sita and brother Lakshmana. During their exile, Sita was abducted by the demon king Ravana, and Rama waged a war against him to rescue her. The Ramayana is a tale of courage, devotion, loyalty, and righteousness.

There are many versions and adaptations of the Ramayana in different languages and regions of India. One of the most popular and influential versions is the Krittivasi Ramayan, composed by the fifteenth-century Bengali poet Krittibas Ojha. Krittibas Ojha was a devout follower of Rama, and he wrote his Ramayana in Bengali to make it accessible to the common people. He also added some local elements and folk stories to enrich his work.

The Krittivasi Ramayan is divided into seven parts, corresponding to the seven books of the original Sanskrit Ramayana by Valmiki. They are:

  • Ajodhyakanda: The book of Ayodhya, where Rama's birth, childhood, marriage, and exile are described.

  • Aranyakanda: The book of the forest, where Rama's adventures and encounters with various sages, demons, and animals are narrated.

  • Kiskindhakanda: The book of Kishkindha, where Rama meets and befriends the monkey king Sugriva, who helps him in his search for Sita.

  • Sundarkanda: The book of beauty, where Hanuman, the loyal servant of Rama, crosses the ocean and finds Sita in Lanka. He also burns down the city and returns with the news to Rama.

  • Lankakanda: The book of Lanka, where Rama and his army of monkeys and bears invade Lanka and fight a fierce battle with Ravana and his army of demons.

  • Uttarakanda: The book of the north, where Rama returns to Ayodhya and is crowned as the king. He also faces some challenges and controversies regarding Sita's purity and loyalty.

  • Lavakushakanda: The book of Lava and Kusha, where Sita gives birth to Rama's twin sons Lava and Kusha in the forest. They grow up as valiant warriors and meet their father in a dramatic way.

The Krittivasi Ramayan is a masterpiece of Bengali literature and culture. It has inspired many artists, writers, musicians, and filmmakers over the centuries. It is also a source of spiritual guidance and moral values for millions of people.
